Sight Conservation

During the period July 1, 2006 to May 21, 2007, the Opelika Lions Club has funded eye exams/glasses for 31 local residents.  Persons of all ages have been aided including the five year old little boy of a single mother, a young lady with sight in only one eye who needed a contact lens to correct her vision, a young lady in the shelter for abused women and several residents of the His Place ministry.  The Opelika Lions Club has also helped several local residents receive assistance with eye surgeries through the Alabama Lions Sight Conservation Association.  Members of the Opelika Lions Club are pleased to be able to improve the quality of persons' lives through vision correction.

Sight Conservation Project Chairman Lion Bob Camp accepts an award from the District Governor for the donation of over 1700 pairs of glasses to be donated to the Lions International Sight Conservation Project.  Presenting the award is the current Club President, Lion Ben Spain.
